Since going Instagram official with the boyfriend no one knew she was dating (and for a whole year!!) in July 2021, Bella Hadid has kept details of her relationship with art director Marc Kalman on the down-low. And it seems that is just the way she likes it. Valentine’s Day however, brings out the most romantic (or cynic) of all of us and well, it seems the supermodel couldn’t help herself but go on a lengthy tribute to her beau.
On Instagram stories, Hadid shared a number of PDA-fuelled happy snaps with Kalman including an at-home sushi date, nights out and an apparent trip to the Hadid family farm. See them all below.
According to a past report from Page Six, the pair had been secretly dating since July 2020 and used the pandemic – masks and fewer outings – to sneak around New York City without being detected. It’s a technique Brad Pitt also used to secretly date Swedish singer Lykke Li.
“They hid it well,” a source for the publication said of Hadid’s relationship. “If they went out, he would come out first, get the car, and then she would get into the car. They would drive to a location, and he’d drop her off but not get out and go park the car.”
Hadid was previously linked to The Weeknd in an on-again off-again relationship that spanned between 2015 and 2016.
In a recent interview, the model discussed experiencing a string of “abusive relationships” both in her private and professional life. She learned toxic behaviours like “people pleasing” as a result.
“I always felt like my voice was never heard growing up,” she said on the Victoria’s Secret VS Voices podcast. “I grew up around men – whether that was in relationships or family or whatever that was – where I was constantly told that my voice was less important than their voice.”
“Then moving into relationships growing up, and not having the boundaries of being able to stick up for myself and have my voice being heard, affected me in my adult relationships very intensely,” she continued. “My nervous system would crash. It was fight or flight.”
By all account it seems Kalman has been extremely good for Hadid. We love to see it!
