Barack Obama sure knows how to party if the internet has anything to say about it. While we were disappointed that Meghan Markle’s 40th birthday soirée didn’t go ahead (in lieu of a very worthwhile cause), the former US President did not fail to impress. At the weekend, Obama celebrated his 60th birthday with a Hawaiian-themed party at the family’s property in Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.

As expected, the guest list was star-studded and featured the likes of Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend, Bradley Cooper, Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson as well as couple Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union. According to a source for E! Newsthe lavish event also featured performances from H.E.R. and rapper Trap Beckham.

In a viral clip posted by guest Erykah Badu (which has been since deleted from their account) Obama could be seen having a ball on the dance floor.  There isn’t too much on the web from the party as any videos and images from social media were swiftly deleted. Below however is a repost of the famous clip.

According to the publication, the event was held outdoors due to ongoing concerns surrounding COVID-19. The original guest list included a huge 475 people including Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Oprah Winfrey (of course) with some people not in attendance due to fears of the new variant.

A source for the New York Times said, “They’ve been concerned about the virus from the beginning, asking invited guests if they had been vaccinated, requesting that they get a test proximate to the event. But when this was planned, the situation was quite different. So they responded to the changing circumstances.”

No expense was spared even when it came to the cocktail napkins. Printed in gold, they read “44×60” which means the 44th President on his 60th birthday.

Barack Obama has been keeping himself busy since he retired from the White House. Most recently he announced the release of a podcast with Bruce Springsteen titled Renegades: Born In The USA.
