LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – APRIL 24: Glen Powell (L) and Sydney Sweeney promote the upcoming film “Anyone But You” at the Sony Pictures Entertainment presentation during CinemaCon, the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on April 24, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell will never beat the allegations that their on-screen romance found its way off-screen, and the deliciously steamy first look at their new romantic comedy, Anyone But You,  proves exactly why the reports were believed so easily.

In the one-minute teaser trailer, their highly talked about chemistry serves almost like a third protagonist, with their sensual report so palpable it’s visible and almost throbbing off the screen.

In the trailer, we see Sweeney and Powell assume the roles of ‘Bea’ and ‘Ben’ respectively, two foes who both travel to Sydney, Australia for a mutual friend’s wedding. Given the nature of an R-rated romantic comedy, the couple’s characters inadvertently decide to pretend to date—though the reason for which isn’t shown in the teaser—with Bea suggesting “Let’s just tell everyone we’re together.”

“We’re at a wedding, a million miles away from home, who knows what could happen?” asks Sweeney’s ‘Bea’. Allow us to illuminate it for you then. Devilish shots of a shirtless Powell cruising around the Sydney harbour, steamy ‘stare into each other’s eyes’ montages backdropped by the city’s infamous beaches and all the hallmarks of a classic enemies-to-lover storyline; the inevitable moment they realise they genuinely like each other.

Don’t worry, that’s not a spoiler for the upcoming, with the official synopsis reading: “When college arch-nemeses reunite years after graduation for a destination wedding, they pretend to be a couple for their own personal reasons. But through pretending, they actually fall in love.”

Of course, with Powell and Sweeney’s real-life interactions proving that their chemistry isn’t mutually exclusive with their roles, the pair are walking press for the film.

Anyone But You is in theatres on Boxing Day, December 26. If you need some “me time” during the holiday season or are looking for an excuse to watch a steamy rom-com, consider this it. Team GRAZIA are sat for the occasion. And after watching the trailer below, you will be, too.
