The conspiracies surrounding the relationship status of Sydney Sweeney and her Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell were convincing to say the least. But Sweeney, 25, is engaged to 38-year-old restaurateur Jonathan Davino says she hasn’t let the rumour mill get to her or Powell, 34.
“Glen and I don’t really care,” she told Variety. “We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker.”
“We talk all the time, like, ‘That’s really funny,’” she added of how both she and Powell reacted to the nonsense headlines. But, the vibe between the pair was undeniable.
Anyone But You director Will Gluck told the publication that the Euphoria star Sweeney was able to compartmentalise the dating rumours, and, ever professional, get the job done.
“Sydney is brilliant at a lot of things, including how to deal with social media,” Gluck told Variety. “She didn’t emotionally internalise it. It was crazy, but after a while it became normal.”
The speculation reached peak hysteria in March when Sweeney and Powell were filming chemistry-reliant movie scenes in Sydney, Australia, namely the kissing scene on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. The following month Powell ended his three-year relationship with 30-year-old model Gigi Paris. The latter unfollowed her former partner and Sweeney on Instagram.
