How many achievements does it take for an Aussie model to be globally known on a first-name basis like Elle, Miranda, Shanina and Co?

Surely Adut Akech – winner of the Australian Fashion Laureate model of the year gong, a finalist in the British Fashion Awards, and face of multiple international designer label campaigns in the past six months – must surely be coming to close to crossing that line?

The South Sudanese, Adelaide-raised supermodel is a mere 18-years-old but is already clocking up the big-name brands engaging her services. Her latest triumph: Coach’s Spring Summer 2019 global advertising campaign set in a desert landscape outside Los Angeles made to resembles a run-down carnival.

Alongside her is the Japanese-American model rumoured to be Harry Styles’ new flame, Kiko Mizuhara, who is an ambassador for the brand, along with Sora Choi, Indira Scott, Fran Summers and Kiki Willems. Black Panther star Michael B Jordan stars alone in the men’s campaign.

“Spring 2019 is inspired by the American West,” said Coach’s creative director Stuart Vevers. “It’s about possibility, adventure and romance – and places where anything can happen.” Seems the wild ride for icon-in-the-making Adut has only just begun.
