With fashion weeks wrapped up, the focus is back on the off-runway moments in the worlds of fashion and beauty. This month, creativity is taking interesting forms, from unexpected collaborations to new takes on wardrobe staples and a generous spirit that brings minds and causes together.
Whether you’re looking to refresh your wardrobe, discover a new favourite or simply keep an eye on what’s happening across fashion and beauty, consider this your October catch-up.
Avenue The Label brings artists together for a good cause

A raffia hat might be a humble summer essential, but Avenue The Label is giving its signature accessory a rather more artistic outing. For the first instalment of PIGMENT, the Australian label invited 13 local artists to transform a hat into a one-of-a-kind work of art, with no brief or aesthetic restrictions.
The results will be auctioned online from October 20 to 27, with all proceeds supporting The Skin Hospital. It’s a meeting of creativity and purpose where Australian artistry champions skin cancer treatment, a cause particularly close to home for a brand built around life in the sun.

Dion Lee returns with HAELO

Australian icon Dion Lee is back with his new label, HAELO, offering a looser, more sensual spin on his industrial aesthetic. Now entering its fourth season, the brand is moving beyond its lingerie-inspired beginnings with a more relaxed take on dressing, pairing delicate lace and translucent layers with athletic shapes and everyday cottons.
Fronted by Japanese model and actress Kiko Mizuhara in a campaign shot by Theo Lui in Paris, the first drop of its Fall collection—arriving this week—feels made for in-between moments, where instead of saving your favourite pieces for an occasion, you make them part of the everyday.

Moncler assembles icons for its latest campaign

If anyone knows a thing or two about forging their own path, it’s Cher, Grace Jones and JENNIE—three legends who deserve a ‘The’ before their names. This month, the trio front Moncler’s new Re/Icons campaign, which revisits archival outerwear through the eyes of three women who have spent their careers challenging convention.
Photographed and directed by Gabriel Moses, the campaign draws on vintage imagery of alpine pioneer Lionel Terray, placing each star at the centre of her own cinematic world. Cher wears the Himalaya jacket, JENNIE puts her spin on the Karakorum, and Grace Jones brings her unmistakable theatricality to the same style in deep purple.

Weekend Max Mara takes an alpine adventure

Weekend Max Mara is making a case for dressing as though you might spend the morning hiking in the Alps and the evening at a swanky art opening. Its new Signature Collection, Into the Forest: A Weekend with Robert Rabensteiner, is co-created with the renowned stylist, whose eclectic sensibility informs a wardrobe that moves between rustic practicality and city polish.
Alpine coats inspire hand-sewn wool outerwear, while fisherman’s knits, silk camisoles, hiking-inspired boots and velvet slippers lend the collection a mixed-up charm. The dynamic palette moves through forest green, navy and chestnut, punctuated by flashes of red, purple and warm yellow, for clothes that refuse to be just one thing.
