It seems the pop girlies have deemed the Glastonbury Music Festival as the event to launch their relationships. Following Gracie Abrams and Olivia Rodrigo’s individual relationship hard launches at the festival this year, Lorde may have also joined the club.
The ‘What Was That’ singer appeared at the British festival this weekend as a surprise performer, live debuting her latest album, Virgin. The unexpected afternoon performance drew expected buzz and praise, but a moment offstage also had fans talking.
During The 1975’s set, the singer and her collaborator Jim-E Stack were seen embracing in the crowd. The following day, speculation continued when the Daily Mail published photos of the pair arriving in London together, arm in arm. Neither artist has confirmed nor commented on the relationship; nonetheless, fans are abuzz.
Here is all we know about Lorde’s speculated boyfriend.
He has worked with many big names

Stack, 33, began his music journey at a young age, making beats as a teenager. Though he describes his adolescent projects as “really terrible”, he eventually grew into an acclaimed producer and artist. Over the years, he has worked with names such as Charli XCX, Haim, Diplo, A$AP Rocky, and Gracie Abrams. His most recent two projects include Bon Iver’s latest release Sable, Fable, and of course Lorde’s Virgin album.
Following the release of her album, he took to Instagram to express his fondness.
“There’s no one I’d rather be in the trenches with,” he wrote. “Eternally grateful for the journey together. Love you forever, Ella.”
Notably, while working with Lorde on Virgin, he also helped produce her much-loved collaboration with Charli XCX ‘Girl, So Confusing’. He’s stated that following these releases, he now wants to slow down and work on some of his own music again.
He met Lorde in 2022

While their collaborative project has only just been released, Lorde and Stack have been working together since 2022. In an interview with British GQ, the producer reminisced on their start.
“She hit me up in 2022 right before she was about to start rehearsing for the Solar Power tour,” he explained. “I think she was eyeing what would be next for her creatively.”
While they worked on remixes for Solar Power and workshopped a few tracks together, it wasn’t until October 2023, when they created the demo for ‘What Was That’, that, according to Stack, “it [became] clear that we had some work to do together.”
He credits this breakthrough to the singer being “creatively energised” due to the new era of life she was in. “She had just gone through a breakup of a very long-term, significant relationship…this new era, living alone in New York for the first time, and things just feeling fresh and new.”
They’re on the same page about music

Stack has asserted he gravitates towards music which feels “fucked up [and] not perfect.” When Lorde came to the producer looking for the next step in her creative journey, she had something similar in mind, wanting “real, in your face, honest, and raw.”
He described the making of the first single and the shared love they both had for their work.
“Okay, we love this; is anybody else going to care?” Seeing people go nuts for it made us both feel we’re not crazy.” In April of this year following the track’s release he took to X (formerly Twitter) to proclaim, it was “The kinda song I was put on earth to help make.”
In May of this year, Lorde also explained to Rolling Stone how Stack’s encouragement of her musical exploration helped her understand her new identity. When she texted her collaborator an image of her trying on some menswear, he responded, “I want to see the you that’s in this picture represented in the music.”
That’s all we know for now… however, we can’t wait to see (and hear) more from these two.
