The Spring Racing Carnival is well underway at Flemington Racecourse this season with the past week marking a spectacular main event. Despite the city’s frigid temperatures, the who’s who of Australia’s social scene has stepped out to Landmark by Lexus Australia at the prestigious Birdcage marquee for all the festivities.
On Saturday, Victoria Derby Day kicked off the Melbourne Cup carnival with a strict dress code of black-and-white. Lexus hosted actress and beauty brand founder Elsa Pataky who paid homage to her Spanish heritage in an Andalusian-inspired Christian Dior ensemble.

Film director Taika Waititi was also in attendance wearing Armani while the guest list also featured designer Pip Edwards, actor Hugh Sheridan, models Rebecca Harding and Nicole Trunfio, stylist Marina Didovich and journalist and racing royalty Kate Waterhouse. Christian Wilkins, never one to turn down a statement, also attended giving new meaning to the fascinator.

The 2022 Lexus Melbourne Cup day followed and welcomed the first day of November with an icy forecast. Thus the likes of Rozalia Russian and Nadia Fairfax-Wayne resorted to long sleeves and power tailoring. Customary millinery was challenged with new dimensions and styles cues – the tiara made several appearances – while a swathe of colour did its best to lighten up the grey skies.
