Kanye West was admitted to hospital this week reportedly suffering from sleep deprivation and dehydration, but it appears the rapper’s mental health has become the focus of doctors treating him.
According to TMZ, sources close to say he is “paranoid and profoundly depressed”, issues that have been building up for months but came to a head this week.
The source also revealed doctors hope Kanye might be able to go home on Monday, however there’s no definitive answer on when he’ll be allowed to leave.
A day before it was reported that the Famous rapper is in such “a bad mental state” that he was not allowed to leave hospital and spend the US Thanksgiving holiday at home with his family, and that his psychological problems are “significant enough” that he’ll easily meet the requirements of his insurance policy to cover the financial losses of the 21 concerts he cancelled on his North American tour.
The father of two certainly didn’t seem in good spirits during his Saint Pablo Tour shows in recent weeks; he ranted about Donald Trump, which elicited boos from the crowd, and he also took issue with long-time close friend and collaborator Jay Z, expressing anger that Jay had not been to visit since Kim had been robbed, and that their daughters had “never played together”.
It’s been a difficult few months for Kanye and his family after Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris about a month into his planned four months of touring.
