Let’s be real here: No one knows what’s going on with COVID-19. One minute, we’re all planning birthday parties and, for more unlucky punters, weddings, and the next we’re potentially going on lockdown in our houses for weeks on end, killing our spouses, housemates and pets in the process.

But in a time of crisis, when thousands of people are dying around the world, it pays to censor what you say online, especially when you’re talking to an audience of 38.4 million.

Yesterday, Vanessa Hudgens did an Instagram Live from her home during self-isolation. During the video, the actress spoke about the coronavirus, saying she doesn’t believe the reports that it could last ’til July and that she doesn’t see the harm if everyone gets it.

I’m sorry. But like, it’s a virus. I get it like, I respect it, but at the same time like even if everybody gets it, like yeah, people are going to die, which is terrible, but like inevitable?” she said, before adding, “I don’t know, maybe I shouldn’t be doing this right now.”

Following the clip, many people opted to publicly bully Hudgens – also something we probably shouldn’t be doing – prompting Queen Chrissy Teigen to stop by with some words of wisdom. “Sometimes people, especially famous people, are gonna say really stupid s–t. & so are you,” she tweeted. “And they, and u, will learn from it & hopefully their history says they’re good. It’s Ok. And at the same time, wow they really had a dumb f—– moment. But u don’t have [to] ruin their lives.”

“We have all said insensitive s—,” she wrote in a follow-up tweet. “Or maybe im just the only other one? But I promise promise promise I learned and she is learning now and that’s all you can ask for.”

Hudgens herself also took to Twitter to address the backlash, writing that she apologizes for her “insensitive” words and that the situation has been a big “wake up call.”

Now that that’s done and dusted, back to watching celebrities on TikTok we go.
