Corsets have been synonymous with sexiness for hundreds of years. Corsets were originally worn to hold and train the torso into a desired shape, traditionally a smaller waist or larger bottom, for aesthetic purposes. Since the late 20th century, the fashion industry has borrowed the term “corset” to refer to tops which, to varying degrees, mimic the look of traditional corsets without acting as them.
Most recently, the historical undergarment were seen on the runways of Mugler, Versace, Tom Ford, Vivienne Westwood and Dion Lee. Bumping up the boudoir vibes, the trendy way to style the modern corset is untucked, with the front tail hanging down and often cropped.
Most recently Kim Kardashian promoted her latest KKW Beauty wearing a hot pink LaQuan Smith Spring 2021 untucked corset and trousers combo. A coordinating lip color and half-up, half-down hairstyle completed the look.
The reality star sister Kourtney Kardashian wore a $490 Dion Lee sheer white bondage-inspired corset teamed with khaki pants and white Celine mules.
Khloé Kardashian recently modeled an Alejandro ‘Grecia’ corset! styled with vinyl Missguided leggings.
The trend isn’t just for the Karsdashian/Jenner klan. Rita Ora also tried the style for the gram wearing a leather David Koma Fall 2020 look which included a long black untucked corset styled with black shorts adorned with white and emerald green crystals.
While out in NYC, Sofia Richie rocked a Vivienne Westwood untucked corset top paired with similarly graffitied leggings.
Keke Palmer was featured in a video for Elle wearing denim on denim, including House of CB’s “Sibille” corset.
