Tom Holland, our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, celebrated his 25th birthday today. Holland has garnered worldwide fame playing Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films. The actor was born on June 1, 1996, in London — our Gemini king. Amongst the many fans wishing “Peter Parker” a happy birthday, is actor and co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. The 40-year-old who plays “Mysterio” in Spider-Man: Far From Home didn’t miss the chance to share a bloodied selfie of Holland. To commemorate the occasion, the actor shared a selfie of them in-between filming Mysterio and Spider-Man’s climactic battle in the series sequel. He added a happy birthday text on the snap and expressed how much he misses his former co-star.

Holland, similar to his role as “Peter Parker” is known for his lovable smile and energy. Fans of course recall the magical moment he paid tribute to Rihanna’s hit single “Umbrella” in his rendition for Lip Sync Battle. But, many fans remember the epic fail Holland made when receiving an exclusive Marvel flyer that explicitly said do not share. Co-star Mark Ruffalo poked fun at Holland for the memorable moment, posting to Instagram: “Happy Birthday to the one who spoils more about the MCU than me.”

On Holland’s special day, fans were also hopeful that somehow, Sony would drop the first look at Spider-Man: No Way Home. Currently, there hasn’t been any indication on when the trailer for the series threequel would arrive. But on the heels of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ trailer drop on Simu Liu’s birthday, fans were sure that Holland would also get the same treatment. But, it’s looking like they’ll have to wait a little bit longer for a tease at the latest MCU movie.

With so much intrigue surrounding the project, fans are eagerly awaiting the first bit of footage from Spider-Man: No Way Home. It’s the only 2021 MCU movie to not yet receive a trailer. Spider-Man: No Way Home’s social media accounts have teased fans over their repeated requests to see a trailer, but no official date for when the footage might arrive online has been given. After taking a year off from movies because of the coronavirus pandemic, the MCU has quite the 2021 slate ahead. Spider-Man: No Way Home is scheduled to be the final film of the year and will arrive in December. It will pick up with Holland’s Peter Parker now that his identity has been revealed to the world.
