When Megan Markle and Prince Harry took up residence in the affluent gated community of Montecito in Santa Barbra, it is reported the royal couple became friends with close neighbors Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry. But upon the release of Gary Janetti’s new cartoon comedy this week, The Prince, we think that could change.

Reminiscent to the series Our Cartoon President (a satirical look at Donald Trump) the newly-released comedy follows Prince William and Kate Middleton’s son, Prince George. Prince Harry makes a cameo within the trailer, voiced by none other than Bloom himself.

“This might be the smallest palace I’ve ever been in,” says Harry’s character upon moving to the US. Markle interjects (voiced by Condola Rashad) telling him it’s called an ‘apartment’. “Yes, an apartment palace, I know that. Lots of tiny palaces inside one big palace.”

I won’t lie. It is funny. While we can imagine the Duke of Sussex giggling along at his own portrayal, it begs the question: will he be that impressed?

While The Prince is now available on HBO Max, Australian viewers will have to wait longer. Overnight the series was heavily criticized and as first reported by USA TodayTwitter was awash with users condemning the creators for exploiting children.

“This is inappropriate. And disrespectful. The children are all innocent and should be off limits! This should be pulled and never viewed,” one user tweeted.

According to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2020, Bloom admitted he was nervous taking on the role.

“This guy is so nice, and I think he’s got a great sense of humor. I hope he maintains that through this because they’re sort of on a pedestal. We’re showing real adoration to them in one form or another,” he said. “I try to justify it, because quite frankly, if I’m honest, it’s not like me to poke fun at anyone but it is done with affection.”

“I’m a British boy who’s very proud of my roots,” he added.
