The future of shopping is here.

Actress Taryn Manning was recently spotted out doing some retail therapy on Rodeo Drive with the gita robot following behind. Looking like something straight out of The Jetsons,  the sleek robot helps schlep up to 40 pounds of cargo.

For her Beverly Hills outing, the Orange Is The New Black star wore a floral slip dress teamed with white sneakers. She also brought along her adorable dog.

Intended so its owner can walk further, faster, and more often, gita was designed and built in Boston by Piaggio Fast Forward, a member of the Piaggio Group, the Italian manufacturer of the iconic Vespa scooter. By doing the heavy lifting, the environmentally friendly technology encourages people to walk outdoors for local errands and trips instead of driving in cars.

Without using a use a map or GPS, gita follows people using vision. It doesn’t track a signal or require anything special you need to carry or wear. gita is the first consumer robot programmed with pedestrian etiquette. It understands and anticipates the movement of the person it is following as well as the other people around them.

In the era of socially distancing and staying six feet apart from others. gita may just be our new go-to shopping buddy.
