Ahead of hosting the American Music Awards, which will air live on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 22, Taraji P. Henson’s stylist Jason Bolden took to the gram to tease a photo of his client’s killer style.
While the “Empire” star is sure to have a number of wardrobe changes throughout the awards show in a few week, she’s already off to a strong start. In this sultry snap, Henson is seen rocking a simple black St. John Fall 2020 ensemble featuring an unbuttoned jacket and exaggerated wide-leg pants with plissé pleating. Her wild red curls were the real showstopper though.
This throwback look gave us major feels to Janet Jackson circa her 1997 “The Velvet Rope” album days. In addition to twinning tendrils, the pop star rocked similar looks of button up jackets and billowy bottoms at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards and her album release party at the Chelsea Piers in New York City that same year.
