If you’re going to debut a dramatic new look, let it be on the Met Gala red carpet.
For the 2024 iteration of the event, Sydney Sweeney stunned in a powder-blue gown adorned with floral embroidery and embellishments. Designed as a custom piece by Miu Miu, the princess-style dress was given an edge with Swarovski jewellery and leather opera gloves. Before and after the red carpet, she also wore a custom veil by Jennifer Behr.
But the mane event of her look? A bold new haircut and colour.
Switching up from her signature long, golden tresses to a stark black layered bob with heavy bangs, the actress left many a jaw on the floor. In fact, many—including this author—didn’t recognise the Euphoria star at first glance.
Having initially debuted a shorter crop at the 2024 Oscars earlier this year, it remained to be confirmed whether this look was actually a major shift for the actress or if she’s just having some fun with wigs.
Sweeney’s go-to hairstylist, Glen Oropeza, shared the look on Instagram, dubbing it her “dark debut”. When a commenter asked if it was a wig, Oropeza coyly responded with a shrugging emoji, before adding a clip on his Instagram stories of him blowdrying the wig—case closed!
