In an age where we’re all obsessing over the metaverse, NFT‘s, and cryptocurrency—it’s fitting that we start taking a look into the Digi world for formidable tasks like err.. holiday shopping. Most of us by now handle the bulk of our shopping online when it comes to the holiday season, but even for the most experienced shopper, it doesn’t come without its challenges. The fit wasn’t correct, the color was a smidge off from the website, or materials are different than expected — and now, you’re faced with frustrating returns. Well, Snapchat has an answer for that, which will make your holiday shopping a walk in the park this season.

snapchatThe social media platform has launched augmented reality try-on Snapchat Lenses (aka filters) to alleviate the hassle and disappointment of unsatisfied online buys. What does that mean exactly? We went straight to the source and discovered for ourselves with Snap’s global head of fashion & beauty partnerships, Rajni Jacques. Together, Jacques and I “tried on” a few AR versions of real-life products on Snapchat from its newly launched partnerships with Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Fendi, & Dior. Each product, from the crossbody bags from Marc Jacobs’ “The Tote Bag” collection to Ralph Lauren’s Welington line, accurately shows how the products are sized compared to your body type.

The quality of each product’s rendering is so detailed down to the shine on the sunglasses and grain on the leather bags. The best part about the platform is that you can buy the product (the real one, of course) in the moment if you see something you like—signing back in for the Dior silk scarf moment ASAP. But Snapchat’s augmented reality try-on Lenses are truly best experienced first hand. Below, scan the yellow Snapcodes using your Snapchat camera, and let the (smart & seamless!) holiday shopping begin.

Fendi

Fendi’s latest Lens: allows Snapchatters try-on multiple sunglasses in AR (like the Baguette or Fendi Way styles), and easily make purchases directly from the app. TrueSize technology ensures that the AR glasses look as close to the real thing as possible — making your purchase decision that much easier.

Dior

Dior is making it possible to try on some truly special silk pieces from the brand’s latest Silk Cruise 22 collection. Using Snap’s ML Head-Tracking tech, the pieces fit to your face or head as they would IRL.

Marc Jacobs
