Shiloh Jolie-Pitt turned 18 on May 27, and she marked the
occasion with a significant statement regarding her relationship
with her father, Brad Pitt. The daughter of Angelina Jolie
and Brad Pitt has been gradually distancing herself from her father
since a private jet incident in 2016, which was a catalyst for her
parents’ separation.
However, on this milestone birthday, she made a decisive move to
formalize this estrangement. According to reports from TMZ, Shiloh
has taken the step of legally changing her name, dropping her
father’s last name and choosing to keep only her mother’s. This
action underscores the deep rift in their family and signals
Shiloh’s firm stance in this sensitive family matter.
Shiloh Drops Brad Pitt’s Name for 18th Birthday
On her 18th birthday, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt filed documentation with
the relevant U.S. authorities to legally change her name. She
specifically requested to drop the “Pitt” surname,
preferring to be officially known as
Shiloh Jolie. This deliberate choice highlights her desire to
completely dissociate herself from her father, both personally and
nominally.
Shiloh isn’t the only child of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to
take such steps. Zahara, at age 18, introduced herself as
“Zahara Marley Jolie” when she joined the Alpha Kappa
Alpha sorority at Spelman College. Meanwhile, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt,
the youngest of the former star couple’s children, didn’t wait
until adulthood to make a similar break.
While working as a production assistant for her mother on the
Broadway musical “The Outsiders,” the 15-year-old chose to
credit herself in the production solely as Vivienne Jolie, further
indicating her definitive
emancipation from her father.
