June 28, 2021 – Because it’s a day that ends in Y, it’s time for another celebrity to announce their entrance into the beauty space, and this one has us hoping it comes with a few superpowers, too. This time, it’s everyone’s favorite superhero Scarlett Johansson, who announced today that she, alongside entrepreneur and beauty-fashion executive, Kate Foster will make their way into the world of beauty with a skincare brand expected to hit the shelves in early 2022.

This shouldn’t be too big of a shocker of an announcement. After all, the Tony and BAFTA winner, five-time Golden Globe nominee and two-time Academy Award nominee (plus many, many, many other things) have been the face of cosmetics companies like L’Oréal and Dolce & Gabbana Fragrance. That said, it’s sort of a natural progression to launch her own entrepreneurial endeavor.

Johansson will serve as the Founder and Chairman of the new company, and Foster is the Co-Founder and CEO. Foster is most known as the former Founder and CEO of SwearBy, a digital platform focused on word-of-mouth product recommendations. The company’s funding comes from private investment firm The Najafi Companies, which has backed several celebrity-founded brands such as Tracee Ellis Ross’s Pattern Beauty, Shay Mitchell’s Béis, and Millie Bobbi Brown’s Florence by Mills.

“I’ve been fascinated by the transformative power of beauty since I was a child,” said Johansson in a statement shared with GRAZIA USA. “My mother instilled in me a passion for self-care from my early teenage years. Several years ago, I took a step back from my beauty deals with the goal of creating something true to me. The result is a clean, accessible approach to beauty.”

Word is out on whether or not this skincare line will come with the same superpowers that Black Widow has, but we’ll keep you updated, as always.
