Six years is a long time in fashion. In a world where trends seemingly come and go faster than the wind (or is it in?), and the new and novel consume the fickle fashion pack, six years seems an eternity. Alessandro Dell’Acqua will attest to this, steering the house of Rochas season after season, year after year, with a feminine finesse both celebrated and canny.

Yesterday in Paris was his last show for Rochas, his creative epitaph, if you will. What he presented was an experiential voyage into his Rochas life; one of brilliant color, fancy embellishment, precise tailoring and girlish sensibility, a sumptuous visual feast to be devoured one last time.

There were the youthful drop hems, the bubbling volume, the crystal application, the jaunty print. There were flirty tea frocks in searing violet, off-kilter pleats, flocked satin, vertiginous bedazzled platforms, glazed shirts layered underneath more shirts (of the gem appliqué variety) and collars cuffed with glinting crystals.

A swansong of epic proportions, his final bow was not marred by sadness, rather reenergizing positivity; uplifting and full of life, much like his Rochas vision for the last six years.
