Rihanna has been riding the archive wave for some time now. Recently, she stepped out in striking vintage Dior jewellery, which she paired with denim and sheer lingerie. And now, she returns to Karl Lagerfeld-era Chanel.
Making a red carpet comeback for the Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty launch party, the singer arrived in a show-stopping look. Naturally, she repped her own shoes and played on the latest purple colourway for the rest of her outfit and glam.
In classic RiRi fashion, the Fenty founder dressed up a pair of acid wash, low-rise jeans by R13 that she wore loosely with chains hanging from the belt loops, which matched her layered necklaces. Up top, she wore a retro lace-trimmed camisole top with red jersey-style lettering.
But the main event was her outerwear. Underneath a lilac shearling coat reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s ‘Lavender Haze’ costume, Rihanna casually wore a quilted leather Chanel jacket. The rich purple piece featured statement gold buttons and multi-coloured tweed accents on the pockets and collar. Though only some of the coat could be seen poking out under the fuzzy outer layer, photos from the runway show off the jacket’s contrasting tweed sleeves. It was initially modelled on runway maven Yasmeen Ghauri as part of the brand’s Fall 1990 collection.
It’s unclear where the piece was sourced from, but the same jacket was recently sold on a French vintage fashion seller’s site for just over $4000.
For her beauty look, Rihanna slicked her new honey-blonde hair into a ponytail with just her front layered swept into a faux side fringe. Doubling down on the lilac tones, she opted for smokey purple eyeshadow that went all the way up to her brows.
