Priscilla Presley arrived at the 2022 Met Gala alongside director Baz Luhrmann, Kacey Musgraves, and the cast of Luhrmann’s upcoming Elvis Presley biopic, ELVIS.

Austin Butler who plays Elvis, spoke about what it’s been like to play the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll telling Vogue on the carpet, “I just set out to find his humanity as much as I could and bring it out with as much life as I could.” 

He continued, “Making them proud was at the core for me.”

Priscilla gave the film her stamp of approval saying, “I feel great; I love the movie.” Adding, “The young generation will learn more about him. I think the movie is for everyone. They’ll learn something.”

The cast is full of celebrities such as Olivia DeJonge, who plays Priscilla, Alton Mason who plays Little Richard, Tom Hanks (who was not in attendance at the Met Gala) who plays Elvis’s manager, Colonel Tom Parker, and more.

Luhrmann’s films are known to be over-the-top adaptations of legendary stories with fabulous costume design. The cast arrived at the Met Gala together in a collection of Gilded Glamour, rocker-chic attire with rhinestone detailing, each wearing custom Prada looks.

Elvis hits theaters on June 24 and Luhrmann just wrapped up editing. “I literally finished it [the film] yesterday,” he said. “It is done.”
