Britain’s Prince Harry (R) and his US fiancee Meghan Markle arrive to attend a memorial service at St Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square in London, on April 23, 2018, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the murder of Stephen Lawrence. – Prince Harry will attended a memorial on Monday marking the 25th anniversary of the racist murder of black teenager Stephen Lawrence in a killing that triggered far-reaching changes to British attitudes and policing. The prince and his fiancee Meghan Markle joined Stephen’s mother Doreen Lawrence, who campaigned tirelessly for justice after her son was brutally stabbed to death at a bus stop on April 22, 1993.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been open about the fact that the treatment of the British press played a huge part in their relocation from the UK to the US, both citing the immense toll the constant scrutiny played on their mental health.

Despite this, ahead of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first sit down interview together since their engagement, a conversation with Oprah set to air on March 7th, the UK tabloids have been having a field day, doing exactly what drove the couple out of the country in the first place.

Most of the criticism is leveled at the fact that Prince Harry’s grandfather, Prince Philip, has been in the hospital in London for the past two weeks, after being admitted because of an infection. His condition has prompted publications to suggest the Sussex’s interview be moved so it’s not taking place while one of their family members is ill.

Of course, the interview taking place while the Duke is sick is unfortunate timing, but, as those tabloids would know, the Royal pair would have no say in when the CBS special is aired—nor would they be able to move it.

This faux concern by the tabloids for the Prince’s health is just one of the many ways the press is tearing the couple apart ahead of the TV special. Another? Harry re-wearing a grey jacket—The Daily Mail’s headline today was: “Don’t you have another suit, Harry?” Another looks at whether Markle is wearing hair extensions.

It’s safe to say, the couple is likely pretty happy with their decision to move to California right now—sun, sand and a lot less s**t.
