With many questioning whether the move was an intentional style statement, or just a perfectly relatable accident, Paris Hilton wore two mismatched heels during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Stopping by the late night show to discuss her recent nuptials, her Peacock series Paris In Love, NFTs, and then subsequently gifting the audience with NFTs of their own, the businesswoman, reality TV star, heiress, and cultural icon was pristinely coifed for her chat with Fallon. Every hair was in place, and her makeup was glowing, along with her Giuseppe Di Morabito lime green shimmering frock.

But there was one thing that was amiss — she was wearing one nude Giuseppe Zanotti patent leather pump and one sheer, crystal embroidered stiletto. Fallon took to Instagram to joke, “When you rush out of the house with the wrong shoes,” which Hilton later reposted.

Having been photographed outside before the show, Hilton was spotted wearing two of the same nude Giuseppe Zanotti pumps that we later only saw one of, hence the speculation that the maneuver was on purpose.

Remember that scene in Mean Girls, when Janis Ian is attempting to sabotage Regina George by cutting holes in her tank top, but Regina just shrugs it off and wears the defaced tank anyway? Regina’s sheer popularity caused all the girls in the hallway at school the next day to begin wearing tops with holes cut out of the bust. I feel like Paris Hilton has that kind of power. The “Paris Hilton wore mismatched pumps, so I wore mismatched pumps” kind of power.

Maybe it was an accident. Maybe it was on purpose. Maybe she just couldn’t chose which heel she liked more. Whatever the reason, if wearing two different shoes start trending, we know exactly who to credit.
