In recent weeks, Olivia Wilde has been making headlines for something other than her incredible film castings (Florence Pugh! Harry Styles! Gemma Chan!) I digress. The actress and director has reportedly ended her relationship with Jason Sudeikis after nine years together and seven years engaged. The pair, who share a six-year-old son, Otis Alexander, and a four-year-old daughter, Daisy Josephine, apparently went their separate ways earlier this year with no bad blood between them.
With an incredibly packed work schedule – she’s currently working on the film Don’t Worry Darling with the aforementioned brilliant cast – Wilde is wasting no time getting down to business, posting a photo from the set of her upcoming movie yesterday wearing a tee that reads, “The future is female ejaculation.”
Thousands of fans quickly flooded Wilde’s comments with one noting that she should pass one along to Harry Styles while on set, as the man seriously loves a slogan tee.
Though initially you might think the t-shirt is a play on Prabal Gurung’s AW17 feminist tee which reads, “The Future is Female,” Wilde’s top actually pays homage to actress Tessa Thompson, who wore the exact same one in the 2018 film Sorry to Bother You. The 36-year-old captioned her post, “Appropriate director attire. Not Sorry To Bother You with this tee. ❤️”
Not only is this top by queer, feminist US brand Otherwild, but the LA-based label was actually the first to bring back “The Future is Female” tee, too. Well before Gurung’s viral runway moment, Otherwild collaborated with lesbian photographer Liza Cowan, who originally photographed her girlfriend Alix Dobkin wearing the slogan tee in 1975, to rerelease it, with 25% of the profits going straight to Planned Parenthood.
