Gone are the days where Nicole Richie would traipse around Manhattan with Paris Hilton in tow. Now she’s a business woman but over the past few years, the former socialite has seen a quiet resurgence to slowly but surely restore her icon status. It was further solidified this week when the House of Harlow founder posed solo for a holiday card.

“My family forgot to take a holiday photo this year… but i didn’t,” Richie captioned an Instagram post. The 40-year-old sat in the corner of a room wearing a gold pleated Oscar de la Renta gown with long sweeping sleeves and matching gold pumps.

Isolating? Border restrictions? Or simply burn out? This is big 2021 energy if you ask us. For a normal family photo, Richie would be posing with her husband Richard Madden, 42, daughter Harlow, 13, and son Sparrow, 12.

“We go really big during the holidays. And by holidays, I mean, October 1st,” Richie joked to People in an October interview. “The decorations come out and then I’ve got Thanksgiving boxes and then I do Christmas the day after Thanksgiving is over. So, we go really big over here.”

She continued, “I do something with my friends as adults, and then my kids like to do teenage things with their friends and they don’t want us around so it’s now become two separate events.”

Speaking of icon status, Richie went viral in September this year when she was videod blowing out the candles of her 40th birthday cake. Her bleached tresses swept through the flames before her hair was promptly set alight. “Well… so far 40 is 🔥,” she aptly captioned the video on social media. Given her recent Oscar de la Renta moment, the statement continues to be relevant.

Now we just wait for the Kardashian’s family photo. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.
