May 13, 2021: There’s been lots of exciting news circulating about New York Fashion Week, happening this coming September. Just yesterday, fashion industry leaders announced the collaborative partnership between IMG and the “Buy Now, Pay Later” platform Afterpay as the official sponsor of NYFW. This morning, Moschino revealed the Italian luxury fashion house (which typically shows its seasonal collections in Milan) will be debuting its new-season wares in a different location. Under creative director Jeremy Scott, Moschino has decided to reveal its spring-summer 2022 collection in New York City on Thursday, September 9.
The fashion house is no stranger to the Big Apple, though. Scott attended Pratt Institute in his early days and used to present his namesake label during New York Fashion Week. In 2019, Scott deviated from the official fashion calendar and presented a men’s fall 2020 and women’s pre-fall 2020 collection with a runway presentation at the New York Transit Museum in Brooklyn. And in 2018, the luxury brand debuted its successful collaboration with H&M at Pier 36 in Manhattan. It’s uncertain at this time if New York will remain the new home of the Moschino collection. However, it wouldn’t seem too far off with the designer’s American roots.

The glorious news of the Moschino collection debuting in New York is one of many thrilling things to come this upcoming season. Obviously, the first is the return of designers presenting with a live audience. This season compared to previous ones also marks a crucial time in American fashion because Thom Browne and Rodarte will return to their humble origins through the newly founded Fashion Alliance. Luxury label Gucci will also be taking on Los Angeles for its next collection.
Specific details of the upcoming Moschino’s collection have yet to be confirmed, but if you’re a fan of the coveted label, you know Scott loves to deliver a show. Stay tuned as the story develops as we near the exciting season.
