Moschino Resort 2022
Katy Perry attends The 2019 Met Gala Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion at Metropolitan Museum of Art

June 30, 2021: For Moschino Resort 2022, creative director Jeremy Scott presented the entire collection in a kitschy mini-musical entitled “Lighting Strike,” where Karen Olson stars as the protagonist. “I wanted to take the excitement, the glamour, and the whimsy of all the old Hollywood musicals and use them as a vehicle to show this collection,” says Scott. “This season, it’s all about song and dance! And few things make me happier than when style and cinema collide.”

Fans may have instantly recognized Katy Perry‘s burger dress which she wore to the 2019 MET Gala after-party in the short film. The dress took centerstage alongside other food-inspired looks, including a hotdog ensemble (worn by Stella maxwell.) Not your vibe? Perhaps a melted and sprinkled ice-cream frock with cheeky (and busty) wafer cones or a sundae dress (cherry on top included) to cure your sweet tooth. But wait, it gets better. The “Bon Appétit” singer’s camp dress got a more practical update that we’re ready to add to cart.

The look that went viral on social media, although fun, didn’t prove to be very functional. I know I’m not the only one who wonders how Perry ate and used the bathroom all night. So for Scott’s Resort 2022 collection, he reinterprets the look in the form of a skirt modeled with a Moschino Couture burger logo and burger earrings. There’s also a burger skirt suit complete with lettuce tomato fixings and ketchup and mustard trimming. The look is paired with a sesame bun and lettuce headpiece (optional for our keto-friendly fashion aficionados)

These two answers to the iconic burger dress are sure to fancy Perry’s fandom and foodies alike. Watch the cinematic dreamscape that is “Lighting Strike” below. “bon appétit, baby”
