Meghan McCain has revealed that she is leaving ABC talk show The View after four years. The controversial host, the daughter of late US senator John McCain, announced the news at the top of the show.

“I’m just going to rip the bandaid off, I am here to tell all of you, my wonderful cohorts and viewers at home: This is going to be my last season here at The View,” she shared. Meghan also shared that Covid “has changed the world for all of us. It’s changed the way I’m looking at my life, the way I’m living my life, the way I want my life to look like.”

She added that it was “not an easy decision” and will stay with the show until the current season ends at the end of July.

As sometimes the only conservative host on the show, Meghan often found herself in volatile battles with her co-hosts Whhop Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines. But she called them “the most talented women on all of television, hands down” and said: “This is the show in America and it is not easy to leave but I feel like it is the right decision for me at this moment.”

In response to the news, Whoopi said it had been “wonderful” to work alongside Meghan, while Joy called her a “formidable opponent” and “no snowflake.”
