“Maxton Hall – The World That Between Us” is currently the surprise hit on Prime Video. Adapted from Mona Kasten’s popular trilogy, the show immerses us in the elite halls of Maxton Hall, an exclusive English high school. Here, we follow the sparks flying between James Beaufort, a charming yet arrogant heir, and Ruby Bell, a scholarship student with dreams of Oxford. Think Gossip Girl mixed with Elite—just add a dash of forbidden romance.
The show features fresh faces like Harriet Herbig-Matten as Ruby and Damian Hardung as James. This guy is more than just eye candy, folks!
Maxton Hall’s Damian Hardung: A Gifted Boy
Born in 1998 in Cologne, Damian Hardung has always been brilliant. With two brothers, Leon and Gabriel, he was the standout kid from an early age. At 14, he snagged a scholarship to a private school in New York. Damian is multilingual—fluent in German and English, and he dabbles in French, Italian, and Mandarin.
He nailed his Abitur (equivalent to the baccalaureate) in 2016, proving his academic chops. But that’s not all; his foray into acting started at age 11, thanks to a family friend, actress Alexandra von Schwerin. Damian starred in “Club der roten Bänder” and other notable series, making waves long before Maxton Hall.
When He’s Not in Front of the Camera, He Studies Medicine
When Damian isn’t on set, he’s, believe it or not, studying medicine. Yes, since 2018, he’s been diving deep into medical textbooks in Cologne. Recently, he shared with TV Movie, “Medicine is fascinating. It’s such a contrast to acting. One week I’m attending an autopsy, the next I’m on set. Both fields teach you a lot about being human.”
His choice of medicine wasn’t random; it’s a family affair. His parents, Alex and Marika, run a private orthopedics practice, and his brother Leon is a dermatologist. Damian even helped with vaccinations during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Balancing acting and med school may sound impossible, but Damian is doing it. He confessed to DWDL, “Some days are extremely stressful. Last week, I was in the hospital until 4 p.m., then headed to a night shoot in Cologne. But this blend of challenges fills my life with excitement. I’d rather have ups and downs than a straight, boring line.”
What’s next for Damian Hardung? Whether he’s in a lab coat or a tailored suit, one thing’s certain—this young man is unstoppable.
