“I’m not truly sad, as Barbie has influenced so many people,” Margot Robbie commented on not receiving an Oscar nomination for her latest movie.

Despite global success, the Oscars did not nominate either Margot Robbie or Greta Gerwig, the director of Barbie. This has stirred up quite a bit of controversy on social media, where indignation and criticism have erupted. Especially since instead, the (more than deserved, let it be clear) nomination went to Ryan Gosling for his portrayal of Ken.

But the 33-year-old Australian actress doesn’t seem to be too bothered by it.

“I don’t have much to feel sad about when I know I’m extremely fortunate,” Margot Robbie said.

“With Barbie, we had decided to do something that would change the way people think, influence culture, have some sort of impact on people. And we did it, we succeeded much more than we ever imagined.”

“This is truly the greatest reward that could come from all of this.”

The actress then added, “Of course, I think Greta should have been nominated for Best Director. What she did is something that happens once in a career, something unique.”

None for Margot Robbie, but Barbie did Receive 8 Nominations

Margot Robbie, however, made sure to celebrate all the film’s Oscar nominations, saying she was “more than ecstatic” for Barbie’s eight collective nominations. Among these, there is one for Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera, who plays Gloria, and one for Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling, who plays Ken.

A few days ago, Ryan Gosling expressed his disappointment about the snubbing of his two colleagues, Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig, in their respective categories.

“There’s no Ken without Barbie, and there’s no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this historic and celebrated film worldwide,” he stated.

“No recognition would be possible for anyone in the film without their talent, determination, and genius.”
