It’s been 10 months since those infamous rollercoaster photos of Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson holding hands went viral, and the unexpected pair are still going strong. Furthermore, Kardashian has finally opened up about how exactly the two ended up dating, revealing that she was the one who made the first move.
In the June 2 episode of Hulu’s new The Kardashians show, Kardashian spoke about meeting — and kissing — Davidson during her hosting gig for Saturday Night Live, saying the moment they locked lips on Aladdin’s magic carpet, she felt a “vibe”.
“I did SNL and then when we kissed in-scene, it was just a vibe,” Kardashian said to the camera. “I was like ‘Oh shit maybe I’ve been…maybe I just need to try something different.’”
However, despite the chemistry from Kardashian’s end, Davidson didn’t show up to the afterparty that night. “But Pete does not come to my afterparty. Everyone was at my afterparty. He does not give me the time of day,” she added, which is when she decided to take matters into her own hands: “A few days later, I called the producer at SNL and I was like “Hey do you have Pete’s number?'” she continued.
“They were like ‘Yeah’ and I text him. I wasn’t even thinking like, ‘Oh my god I’m gonna be in a relationship with him.’ I was just thinking…I heard about this BDE. I need to get out there. I need to just, like, jump start my…I was just basically DTF.” Okay, wow.
Of course, rather than just a casual hookup, Kardashian and Davidson ended up entering into a full-blown relationship that includes Instagram tributes, a Met Gala couple debut, a meeting of the children, and not one, not two, but three tattoos.
Initially, Kardashian was hesitant to include her new boyfriend on the family’s reality TV show, explaining, “I just feel like I wanted to really make sure and not be like, ‘Oh my god, I met someone and I’m having fun’ and then just like start talking about it on a show. Then if we weren’t talking months later I’d be an idiot. Or a whore, either one.”
Whether or not Davidson will appear on later episodes of The Kardashians remains to be seen, but TBH it wouldn’t be surprising at this point.
