Despite being the queen of glamour, Kim Kardashian has traditionally held strong to not participating in one trend — long nails. While the star’s siblings Khloé Kardashian and Kylie Jenner are rarely spotted without an XXL manicure, the SKIMS founder has previously said that she “can’t do” long nails.
While Kardashian does indulge in a major nail moment on occasion, for the day-to day she prefers more understated lengths and shades. “Every once in a while I get [long nails] for vacation, [and] I have a whole different attitude,” she told Allure in an interview earlier this year.
She explained that her reasoning was ultimately down to practicality. “When I have my nails on, everyone will laugh,” she told the publication. “They’ll be like nothing you’re saying on text makes sense.”
But it seems the star has decided to relax her stance – for the moment, at least – after she was snapped with a stiletto set of nails at the annual Baby2Baby Gala in Los Angeles this past weekend.
Rather than her usual polished neutral nails, Kardashian called on celebrity nail artist Kim Truong to give her a set of razor-sharp talons for the event. Truong, who works with the star’s sister Khloé and mother Kris Jenner, created an extended soft blush French manicure that matched the star’s hot pink gown and Balenciaga bag.
However the nails were not to last, as Kardashian revealed on her Instagram Story that her long claws were in fact press-ons designed by Truong that could easily be ditched after the event. Hours later, Kardashian posted another picture to her Story that showed the discarded press-on nails, simply captioning it, “RIP.”
While she mightn’t be rocking long nails on the daily, we’re hopeful to see Kardashian further embracing the stiletto nail trend on red carpets in the future.
