Whether it be a creamy knit from Byron Bay-based label St. Agni or an intricately embellished piece from Bottega Veneta, Kendall Jenner’s collection of breezy summer dresses knows no bounds. This was proven true once again over the weekend as the supermodel stepped out on the grid at the Miami Grand Prix wearing a perfectly trackside-appropriate gingham midi from Tommy Hilfiger.
The 28-year-old, and recent star of the American fashion veteran’s ‘Tommy & Friends’ campaign, brought a taste of the aspirational luxury the designer’s eponymous brand embodies in her effortless halterneck. The brown, white and red gingham check isn’t typically a print we see the decisively minimal style savant gravitate to. But when a high-octane occasion like Formula One calls for the traditional checkerboard racing flag, what better way to acknowledge your setting than by moulding the motif to your own aesthetic?
Jenner’s race weekend wardrobe also consisted of a pair of penny loafers from German footwear and accessories label, Ayede, and a pair of square-frame tortoiseshell glasses. The star kept her hair and makeup minimal for the practice round, before revving into a classic Palm Beach ensemble for the qualifiers—a white button-down and white jeans.
The 818 Tequila founder continued sporting Tommy Hilfiger for her entire stay on the track, though her outfit could have easily been lifted from Don Johnson’s wardrobe during his Miami Vice day given how perfectly it blended in.
Unlike her elder Kardashian sisters, Jenner seemingly has a penchant for dressing to her surroundings and taking sartorial cues from the corner of the globe she finds herself in. (Case in point, the vintage Theirry Mugler and Alaïa pieces that exclusively emerge when she’s in Paris.)
Jenner’s next trip will (presumably) be to New York for the Met Gala. The first Monday in May might call for a very specific dress code, but make no doubt about it, Jenner will still be delivering her best interpretation of a Manhattanite.
