Casual flings are a natural part of any dating process, and that looks true for the brief period of romance/not-so romance between Kanye West and Irina Shayk. The now-former couple reportedly dated for two months, and for a while, that’s about all we heard about the situation. Now, sources have told multiple outlets the reason that the two went their separate ways.
Tipping his toe back into the dating pool after his divorce from Kim Kardashian in February, reports started appearing that he and Russian model Irina Shayk were an item. The two were first seen together in Provence, France in June to celebrate West’s 44th birthday, initially thought to be their first outing together as a couple; a source later said in an interview that the two were “just going as friends.”
Now, in a recent interview, a source has claimed that the two never had anything “too deep.”
“Kanye and Irina are over, but they never really started, there’s nothing going on there,” the source said. “[Shayk] realized they aren’t great romantic partners.”
So it looks like Shayk was the one who called it quits, but from the beginning and prior to the breakup, reports claimed that the relationship was super casual. A report from when they first started dating claimed that “[Shayk] doesn’t want to be linked with anyone right now, she is happy being single.”
“The two of them have always just been having fun together,” a source said. “They’re both doing their own thing and down to have a good time without any strings attached.”
It makes sense since, in reality, this situation seemed like quite the rebound, as it happened just after West’s split from Kim Kardashian. It was also the first time Shayk had been romantically involved with someone since her breakup with Bradley Cooper in 2019.
“Kanye has been busy working and spending time with his kids. This is his focus,” a source said told People. “He doesn’t have time to date right now. He finds Irina amazing though. They remain friendly.”
