Kanye West’s new album Donda has continued to dominate the headlines since its release last week, following a chaotic launch, which included three listening parties, a bag of air being sold on eBay for $3333, drama with Drake, and Kim Kardashian in a Balenciaga wedding dress.
Now that fans have actually had a chance to listen to the record, people have started picking up clues in the lyrics as to the state of West’s marriage with Kardashian, who announced her separation from the rapped in February and who has since been listening to Donda on mute.
One of the biggest revelations is that of West’s infidelity during the couple’s eight-year relationship. In the song ‘Hurricane’, West admits to having affairs, even after two of his children—the eldest being North and Saint—were born.
“Here I go actin’ too rich / Here I go with a new chick / And I know what the truth is / Still playin’ after two kids / It’s a lot to digest when your life always movin’,” he raps on the track.
Sources confirmed to both PEOPLE and Page Six that the song is the truth, with PEOPLE’s saying, the lyrics are “in a way [Kanye’s] testimony of everything he did wrong and his apology and taking accountability.”
Meanwhile, Page Six’s insider made it clear West isn’t speaking about Irina Shayk, who he briefly dated recently, when he references a “new chick.”
In the lyrics, West also appears to reference the Calabasas, California mansion he once shared with Kardashian that was featured in an issue of Architectural Digest last year.
“Architectural Digest, but I needed home improvement / Sixty-million-dollar home, never went home to it,” he raps. “Genius gone clueless, it’s a whole lot to risk,” the lyrics read.
In another song, ‘Lord I Need You,’ West, who continued to write lyrics for the album right up until its release, appears to reference Kardashian’s recent appearances at his Donda listening parties. “Time and space is a luxury / But you came here to show that you’re still in love with me,” he raps.
Though some have questioned whether Kardashian and West may be reconciling, others have suggested the pair’s recent appearances together have more to do with creating attention around Donda—and beating Drake’s new album sales in the process—than a rekindled romance. It’s the Kardashians we’re talking about, after all.
