Jason Momoa knows the age-old motto, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it! The 42-year-old Dune actor, attended the 2022 Academy Awards red carpet with his signature pink scrunchie in tact. He styled his long locks in a French braid secured with a pale pink hair tie.
Naturally, leave it to Twitter fans to connect the statement accessory to the first time Momoa rocked the (dare we call it Y2K-inspired?) accessory on his wrist at the 2019 Oscars. He wore is three years ago to match his pink Fendi suit.
On Sunday, one fan tweeted, “obsessed with the Jason Momoa formal scrunchie situation.” Another called out the time when he wore it during an Instagram Live. Meanwhile, others continued the conversation by fangirling over how dapper he looked in his suit.

Momoa worked with UK-based Savile Row designer Henry Poole & Co. for his tailored black suit paired with another black scrunchie on his wrist and a blue and yellow pocket square supporting Ukraine. The actor also partnered with the famous designer to create a custom look for the London premiere of Dune. Perhaps both Henry Poole and scrunchie are Momoa’s good luck charms.
