Following Britney Spears’ explosive testimony in court last week, the pop star’s younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears has broken her silence. Via a series of Instagram stories the 30-year-old spoke out about her sister and revealed she was “proud” of Britney. She could be seen getting emotional at times.
“The only reason I haven’t [spoken] before is because I felt like until my sister was able to speak for herself and say what she felt she needed to say publicly, that it wasn’t my place and it wasn’t the right thing to do,” Spears said. “But now that she’s very clearly spoken and said what she needed to say, I feel like I can follow her lead and say what I feel like I need to say.”
Spears continued, “I don’t care if she wants to run away to a rainforest and have a zillion babies in the middle of nowhere, or if she wants to come back and dominate the world the way she has so many times before, because I have nothing to gain or lose either way.
“This situation does not affect me either way because I am only her sister, who is only concerned about her happiness,” the actress added.

Spears, the daughter to Lynne and Jamie Spears, has been notoriously quiet on social media surrounding the controversial conservatorship. During her social media statement, the former Nickelodeon star responded to criticism that she wasn’t vocal enough.
“Maybe I didn’t support her the way the public would like me to with a [#FreeBritney] hashtag on a public platform, but I can assure you that I’ve supported my sister long before there was a hashtag, and I’ll support her long after,” Spears continued.
“I am speaking for myself,” she noted. “I’m so proud of her for using her voice. I am so proud of her for requesting new counsel like I told her to do many years ago — not on a big, public platform, but just in a personal conversation between two sisters. So I’m very proud that she’s taken that step.”
On June 23, Britney spoke for the first time publicly about her conservatorship detailing how she was largely kept in a drugged state and was taken advantage of. She noted that her father, Jamie, should “be in jail”.
