Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele is known for his destination runway shows. He’s presented in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Rome, and naturally, the heritage label’s home base of Milan. Now, WWD reports that Michele will be taking Gucci back to Europe for not one but two shows in the first half of the year.

The first show will be a part of the official Milan Fall-Winter 2022 Fashion Week schedule (February 22-28), while the second will be hosted in May. The location or title of the collection has not been disclosed, but what we do know is that Michele has his calendar marked for May 16 to present the co-ed collection. Although the date doesn’t line up with any official fashion calendar week, it seems it’s slated perfectly for the Cannes Film Festival (scheduled to take place from May 17-28).

While Michele bringing the runway to Cannes seems fitting for the label, it’s only speculations for now. His Spring 2022 collection turned Hollywood Boulevard’s Walk of Stars into a runway to pay tribute to his love for films — perhaps it’s time for an homage to the new films debuting this year? Not to mention Michele’s A-list Gucci muses are sure to be touching down in the French Riviera for the festival, dressed in their best no less.
