Less than a week ago, we were heralding Florence Pugh‘s freshly-chopped femme fatale blonde bangs. But now, on the beige steps of the 2023 Met Gala, Pugh has surprised us all by debuting a fresh buzz cut, a chop unlike anything we’ve seen her sport before.
Historically, making your Met Gala debut is a moment to sartorially flex your prowess as bona fide style savant.
Here, in custom Valentino, Pugh marks her first Met Gala with an iconic arrival onto fashion’s night of night with an unconventional take on the theme; “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.”
Pugh’s Pierpaolo Piccioli designed gown features all the hallmarks of a Lagerfeld look: intentional restrained explorations of black and white, dainty pearl details and soft feminine accents, like the gown’s feminine bow.
However, the addition of Valentino’s signature statement-making protruding feather details, reinterpreted for this year’s Met Gala into an exaggerated head piece, is proving that despite this being Pugh’s first gala, she could soon become the reigning Queen of Met dressing.
She already has her sartorial crown, all that’s left is a throne.
