Italian luxury fashion house Etro has appointed designer Marco De Vincenzo as its new creative director for women’s, men’s and home collections, starting June 1.

The designer took to Instagram to express his gratitude, writing, “Dear friends, I’d love to share with you my happiness for being appointed Creative Director of Etro! Thanks to all of you who are always by my side.”

Etro founder, Gerolamo Etro’s children, Veronica, Kean and Jacopo, all most recently held the title of women’s, men’s and home creative directors, respectively. According to a release from the brand, they will “continue to be involved in the development of the brand’s strategy in partnership with [private equity firm] L Catterton.”

De Vincenzo’s debut will occur during Milan Fashion Week in September 2022, with the womenswear Spring/Summer 2023 collection.

“As part of the brand’s new course, we welcome with enthusiasm the arrival of Marco De Vincenzo,” Fabrizio Cardinali, Etro’s Chief Executive Officer, said in the release. “Through his sensitivity for colors, prints and fabrics, we are sure that Marco will be able to translate at best Etro’s extraordinary heritage into new interpretations for the different brand’s collections and also giving a new drive to the world of accessories.”

An alum of the European Institute of Design in Rome, De Vincenzo had a long relationship with Fendi, designing accessories for the brand since 2000, before eventually launching his own namesake label in 2009. According to Vogue, De Vincenzo will keep his position as Fendi‘s leather goods head designer.

We can’t wait to see how De Vincenzo brings his signature flair to the brand’s paisley-printed design DNA.
