Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton in The Devil Wears Prada

We would love to make a The Devil Wears Prada joke here, but most of them have already been made. In fact, we would argue that Emily Blunt speaks for herself, as she’s set to host this year’s Council of Fashion Design Awards. The ceremony is set to take place on November 10, 2021 and will feature talent from across the fashion industry and in doing so, recognizes the talent, innovation and creativity from the past year.

“Emily is one of the most talented actresses in the world. Her timeless style and elegance light up any room,” Tom Ford, Chairman of the CFDA, said in a statement obtained by GRAZIA. “The wonderful thing about Emily is that she is both kind and intelligent. I have great admiration for her, and I am so happy to have her as the host of this year’s CFDA awards.”

This year, the awards ceremony will be held at THE POOL + THE GRILL, the iconic venue housed within the historic Seagram Building on Park Avenue in New York City.

Blunt’s oeuvre includes her work in The Devil Wears Prada, one of the most iconic movies centering the fashion industry in the last 15 years. Blunt plays Emily Charlton, the assistant to the demanding but fierce editor-in-chief Miranda (of course played by the one and only Meryl Streep). So hopefully, when Blunt steps up to host the awards, she’ll bring with her a repertoire of references from the movie, which has retained relevance in both the cinematic and fashion spheres since its conception.

Let’s just hope they take the opportunity to really ham it up.
