Advancements in technology open the door to societal progress as well as individual growth. While new technological inventions have changed the course of human history from as early as the time of the wheel and the printing press, the internet has exponentially increased the number of opportunities humans have to better themselves and the world. As the internet became more widely adopted, the number of entrepreneurs drastically increased as well. These new internet-enabled channels of communication, commerce, and entertainment, have created opportunities for individuals who want to follow their dreams and change the world.
While this trend existed before the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic, since the resulting quarantine and work from home orders, the number of individuals using the internet to become entrepreneurs has continued to increase. People across the globe are re-examining their relationships with their careers, with many choosing to re-align their professional lives.
While the technology-enabled entrepreneurship space is oversaturated with men, the internet has empowered women, immigrants, and minority entrepreneurs in new ways previously unheard of. Since the rise of social media, entrepreneurs have been able to directly disseminate their message, products, or services to hyper-specific demographic and psychographic sets of prospective customers and followers. Now, with new Web 3 innovations on the horizon, we are in the middle of another entrepreneurial revolution – one that could empower more people to take control of their destinies as well as to change society for the better. Emphasizing privacy, transparency, and peer-to-peer networks, blockchain, cryptocurrency, and NFT technology have the power to change global industries from finance to art.
Just because this technology has the potential to empower entrepreneurs and consumers alike, the world still needs motivated and visionary thinkers driving these values into existence.
Emile Delam is one of these visionaries. Emile is on a mission to empower young women through technology so they have the necessary tools to become the future female unicorns of tomorrow, Funicorns. Emile is a living example of how women entrepreneurs are shaping the future of education and finance.
Life is what you make of it. Knowing about the bigger world never stopped Emile from chasing her dreams. Determined from a young age to always be better, her tenacity and passion guided her to become a successful entrepreneur but the journey to get there was not so easy.
Never glare into the sun as it might blur your vision. Building a business is difficult and doing so being female makes it even more complicated. This drove Emile to dedicate her life to changing the lives of young girls today so that their journey to success is even easier and, of course, fun! Being a successful and confident leader does not mean giving up who you are or where you came from.
Coming from a small town in Lithuania to the bright lights of Hollywood, Emile has truly overcome many difficult moments. Her failures and hardships have pushed her to become a much better and wiser individual. Despite all of her early setbacks and lessons in the dangers of entrepreneurship, Emile became even more motivated to succeed.
Emile takes much of her inspiration from her father’s willingness to follow his dreams and become an entrepreneur. At just 19 years old, Emile dropped out of university to start her entrepreneurial journey. Emile took this risk and followed her dreams knowing that her parents could not support her financially if she failed.
Co-founding a fashion company, Emile was based across Europe from the UK to Spain, Italy to Russia integrating herself in the industry. After two years of pursuing fashion entrepreneurship, and learning multiple languages along the way, Delam’s first fashion venture was acquired by a German-based company.
Despite this acquisition, Emile felt lost about her next steps. Unfortunately, her lack of higher education worried potential employers and her company’s acquisition was less relevant to London-based companies. Emile would again need to work her way up the ladder.
In 2014, London’s technology scene was its best industry to be in; this was an exciting opportunity for Emile to both learn something new and become a pioneer for women in the space, as the industry skewed male.
Emile was lucky and focused enough to catch the crypto cycle in 2017 and never looked back. She has since been involved in several innovative projects, both as founder and board member. Delam has always been passionate about technology and societal impact, which is what is fueling her interest in Web 3.0.
Emile decided to follow her dreams from an early age and never allowed failure to get in her way of being successful. Now, Emile is the founder of Funicorns, an education and engagement platform created to empower women to learn about innovative technologies. Emile is on a mission to make sure the future is feminine by investing in female-led businesses, educating & supporting the female founders of tomorrow, and empowering women to take control of their financial freedom.
