In case you missed it, the 2023 Met Gala red carpet just took place, and the looks surpassed all our wildest expectations. With the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” in place to honor the late designer who passed away in 2019, guests did their best to wow with references to his signature designs.
One look we won’t be forgetting about anytime soon? Elle Fanning.
Wearing a custom lace strapless A-line gown by Vivienne Westwood that featured a lengthy train, the actress would surely have received Karl Lagerfeld‘s tick of approval. To keep it interesting, Fanning opted to layer a black long-sleeve bolero over her bridal-style dress.
But where the look really shone was in the accessories.
Boasting a flower crown of real daisies and cascading black satin bows atop her blonde, tousled hair, the 25-year-old was an ethereal vision. Best of all, Fanning wore a gold chocker piece and matching ring from the new Cartier collection, Grain de Café.
The Grain de Café collection was first launched in 1938 by legendary Creative Director Jeanne Toussaint. It became an iconic collection of jewelry in the 1950s, during which time it was adopted by the newly-crowned Princess Grace of Monaco, Grace Kelly.
A core part of Cartier’s history and stylistic grammar; the shining goldwork of the creations is reminiscent of the Riviera sun and bathes its wearer in the same warm glow. Studded with diamonds or rubellite, it takes the pure shape of the humble coffee bean, instilling a sense of beauty in the everyday.
With exclusive portraits shot by photographer Greg Williams, the actress can be seen trying on the collection.
