Dua Lipa‘s love affair with Versace is long and varied. She’s worn Donatella’s unapologetically glamorous designs to the Met Gala, the Grammys, and in many an Instagram-breaking selfie. Now she’s worn off-the-runway Versace to attend the American Music Awards.
Like all red carpet events this year, Lipa attended the event virtually from her home base in the United Kingdom. In fact, her headline performance for the event took place at the Royal Albert Hall in central London, where she was suspended into the air as she performed her hit track “Levitating.”
The mini dress Lipa wore—with a crystal-embellished scallop bra detail, and sequin-encrusted starfish, first debuted at Versace’s spring summer 2021 show in Milan this September. The starfish motif was a theme throughout the collection (the runway was staged in a highly stylized take on the lost underwater city of Atlantis), and Lipa’s number was the star-of-the-show final look worn by Australian supermodel Adut Akech.
The dress is further proof—if we ever needed it—that Dua Lipa and Versace are always a match made in OTT fashion heaven. You can see our editors’ picks of the best looks from the AMAs’ red carpet, including Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez and Cara Delevingne, here.
