If anyone knows how to properly execute the glam Y2K party dress, it’s Dua Lipa. The Future Nostalgia artist rang in 2023 with a New Year’s Eve look, far more worthy of attention than even the annual ball drop.
On New Year’s Day, the Service95 founder shared a carousel of images with her 87.6 million Instagram followers, providing a peek inside the festivities from the night before.
Lipa attended a private party filled with friends, wearing an shimmering iridescent Swarovski crystal-encrusted chainmail Ludovic de Saint Sernin semi-sheer dress with a halter neckline from the label’s Spring/Summer 2023 ready-to-wear collection, styled by Lorenzo Posocco. The dress’ low swooping back exposed her white thong.
Wearing her long, wavy tresses in a half-up, half-down style, Lipa accessorized her celebratory ensemble with dangling star-shaped chandelier earrings, a diamond tennis bracelet and hot pink knee-high boots. The songstress captioned the post, “🏹🤍2023 ~ Happy New Year ~ wishing you peace, love, health and happiness for this year ahead x.”
De Saint Sernin took to social media to express his excitement and gratitude for the look, reposting Lipa’s images. “HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY MERMAIDS 🧜🏻♀️,” he wrote. “WISHING YOU AN AMAZING 2023 FILLED WITH LOVE, HAPPINESS, HEALTH & ABOVE ALL FANTASY! MANIFEST YOUR DREAMS & MAKE IT YOUR YEAR 🐚.”
The designer went on to add, “ENTERING 2023 WITH THE ULTIMATE MERMAID @dualipa WEARING THE IRIDESCENT SWAROVSKI CRYSTAL DRESS @ludovicdesaintsernin MIRAGE SS23.”
After thanking his team and Lipa’s stylist, de Saint Sernin went on to express his excitement for the new year since being named the new creative director of Ann Demeulemeester in December. “I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH AND I CAN’T WAIT TO GIVE TWICE AS MUCH LOVE THIS YEAR @ludovicdesaintsernin & @anndemeulemeester_official ✨,” he wrote.
The dress is reminiscent of Paris Hilton’s famed iridescent silver chainmail party dress she wore on her 21st birthday, and fittingly, the heiress commented on Lipa’s pic with her signature catchphrase, “That’s hot🔥😉.”
