The unitard has made a comeback from its 80s birthplace of ‘jazzercise’ classes and aerobics studios. Nowadays the skin-tight silhouette is instead boasted in hot yoga and worn to Sunday brunch. Dua Lipa of course took the style to new sartorial heights at the weekend with a sheer iteration for a Saturday night out.
In celebration of Pride Month, Lipa attended the Evita Party in Los Angeles this past weekend. As the US emerge from restrictions this week, Lipa took to social media to honor the evening. “We’re back bestieeeee,” the 25-year-old captioned a series of images on Instagram.
The Future Nostalgia artist paired a coral-colored sheer body suit – and its key hole cut-outs – with accompanying gloves which boasted feathers at the cuff. An oversized blazer was paired with the ensemble along with a sky blue clutch and rhinestone encrusted pumps.
Celebrity hair stylist Chris Appleton was the mastermind behind Lipa’s brand new do; a wispy front fringe.
The Grammy award winning artist has become known as a purveyor of difficult trends. Most recently the artist channeled Daisy Duke for a take on resort wear – think a Miu Miu jacket and cowboy boots. She’s been spotted reviving the polarising 90s trend, the exposed g-string with the help of Fenty, and amid lockdown in 2020 influenced the return of the velour tracksuit with a lime green version.
We’re not the only ones obsessed with the “Don’t Stop Now” singer. Following the 2021 Grammy Awards where Lipa won Best Vocal Album, Sir Elton John gushed about the artist.
“You have had the most incredible week,” John said on an Instagram Live. “You won a Grammy, the most incredible Grammy performance. You must be on top of the world right now because I was just checking the global charts before I came onto you and you are without question the hottest selling artist in the world, right now, without a shadow of a doubt.”
