After years of research, the creative directors of DSquared2, Dean and Dan Caten, launched a new eco-conscious capsule collection, One Life, One Planet, as a commitment to contribute more responsibly to the fashion industry.

The capsule is in collaboration with the lifestyle brand, Smiley, which features several accessories and apparel items. There are espadrilles, sneakers, bucket bags, totes, belts, baseball caps, and bandanas, as well as sweatshirts, joggers, T-shirts, and mens shorts. The signature smiley face logo with a green maple leaf is featured throughout and pieces come in summer-ready shades of pink, sky blue, green and red.

For the T-shirts and sweatshirts, the capsule sourced organic cotton. Other styles in the line-up used a jersey material, made of a mix of organic and recycled cotton (50% recycled and 50% virgin organic cotton). The bomber jacket was made from recycled nylon.

The capsule utilized a stretch yarn for denim pieces that has been spun with more that 50% recycled content and has an innovative type of elastane that is degradable, meaning it will be easier to return to the earth at the very end of its lifespan.

The accessories for One Life, One Planet were made with organic cotton and recycled cotton, with recycled synthetic fibers and finished with processes engineered to reduce their impact on specific key environmental dimensions.

As the brand acknowledges in the press release, it’s a first step into sustainability for DSquared2 but “there is much more to do.”

One Life, One Planet is available to shop now in all DSquared2 stores as well as on online and through select retailers.
