Fresh off her whirlwind engagement and then subsequent breakup with Max Ehrich, Demi Lovato may be sending a subtle message through her sinister-inspired style.
The songstress posed for the gram this week wearing a Balenciaga Spring 2020 skirt suit in a surgical green shade, which included a blazer with exaggerated shoulder pads and matching mini skirt. Accessorizing with Giuseppe Zanotti Bebe platform heels and her Chanel Boy bag, she captioned the moody snap, “Call Me Nurse Ratched.”
The 28-year-old was referring to the title character on Ratched, Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series about the character of the same name from Ken Kesey’s 1962 novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Mildred Ratched, played by Sarah Paulson, is described as a cold, heartless tyrant.
According to the streaming service, the character seeks employment at a leading psychiatric hospital. At first, she presents herself as the perfect image of what a dedicated nurse should be, but as she begins to infiltrate the mental health care system and those within it, “her stylish exterior belies growing darkness that has long been smoldering within, revealing that true monsters are made, not born.”
Lovato is said to be furious with her ex after he publicly blasted her, saying the breakup blindsided him and that he found out via social media. The ‘Still Have’ Me singer reportedly broke off her two-month engagement with the soap opera actor in September after discovering his “intentions weren’t genuine.” The couple first began dating in March 2020.
