As the conflict in Ukraine continues to escalate, the fashion community is doing what it can to support the people of Ukraine. Designer Christian Siriano has created a custom two-tone tulle gown in yellow and blue, representing the Ukrainian flag. Up for auction, Siriano has promised to match the highest bidder’s price to donate all proceeds towards Ukrainian relief, directing all potential bidders to reach out to the designer’s team email at [email protected].
Drench in voluminous and vibrant tulle in royal blue and canary yellow, swathes of the fabric are elegantly and strategically draped along the bust, and gathered at one shoulder, before cascading into a flowing ballgown. Explaining on Instagram, Siriano writes, “As a designer our voice is our clothes! So if a few bolts of tulle can help save someone then YES, we will be donating this gown to the highest bidder possible and matching that donation for Ukraine.”
He goes on to express, “prayers are with anyone suffering right now.”
As Russia’s attack on the country erupted amid Milan fashion week, many within the fashion and beauty industry have been finding ways to help. Models including the Hadids and Mica Argañaraz pledged to donate their fashion week earnings to aid those suffering in the country, while fashion houses from Balmain, Balenciaga, Coperni and Givenchy used the platform of their fashion week presentations to express support for Ukraine.
